The Self-Government Party (Sjálvstýrisflokkurin, also rendered in English as Home Rule Party or Independence Party) is a social-liberal party in the Faroe Islands. The party is led by Kári P. Højgaard. At the last legislative elections, 20 January 2004, the party won 4.6% of the popular vote and 1 out of 32 seats. The party traditionally supported greater autonomy for the Faroes but in 1994 agreed to support Faroese independence as part of a coalition deal with the Tjóðveldisflokkurin and Fólkaflokkurin.
