Sekiguchi Shinshin-ryu

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sekiguchi Shinshin-ryū (関口新心流?) is an old style (koryū) martial art for personal combat developed in feudal Japan.

The forms and teachings are based upon the demands and specialized skills of the bodyguard. The extant bugei of this form consist of kneeling long sword techniques, standing long sword, kneeling short sword, tanto or knife and yari or spear. The school was split into the armed and the unarmed styles during the 20th century. It is a dynamic and effective[citation needed] form when applied against traditionally trained swordsman from other schools.
