[edit] Welcome to the Wikipedia!

Hello, and Welcome to the Wikipedia, Seidel,K! Thanks for the contributions to the Mark Geier article. Here are a few perfunctory tips to hasten your acculturation into the Wikipedia experience:

And some odds and ends: Cite your sources, Civility, Conflict resolution, How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Pages needing attention, Peer review, Policy Library, Verifiability, Village pump, and Wikiquette; also, you can sign your name on any page by typing four tildes: ~~~~. Best of luck, Seidel,K, and most importantly, have fun! Ombudsman 21:25, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Other user IDs

This user has or does edit using the following user names:

  • 69.138.245.111
  • 69.138.225.97
  • Justice2day
  • Seidel,K

The last one is a very serious matter, as it is a misuse of Kathleen Seidel's name. She is webmaster for neurodiversity.com. -- Fyslee 21:27, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

That is rather shameful, as this name was confirmed to not be Kathleen Seidel (of course) here. But do we know for sure that this user is the same as the other three mentioned above? Can an admin check IP addresses, perhaps? -- Tim D 23:32, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
The user can confirm or deny. A responsible and mature person would at least communicate, and a lack of communication can be interpreted as bad faith editing and conduct. Such editors do not deserve to be treated with kid gloves. They are simply asking for it. -- Fyslee 14:58, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

The use of multiple user names violates this policy:

"Avoiding scrutiny from other editors"
"Multiple accounts should not be used as a way of avoiding the scrutiny of your fellow editors by ensuring you leave no audit trail. Using sock puppet accounts to split your contributions history means that other editors can't detect patterns in your contributions. While it may be legitimate to do this from time to time (for example, by creating a special account to make edits that might serve to identify you in real life), it is a violation of this policy to create multiple accounts in order to confuse or deceive editors who may have a legitimate interest in tracking your contributions."

[edit] Username block

Your username has been blocked indefinitely because it may be rude or inflammatory, unnecessarily long/confusing, too similar to an existing user, contains the name of an organization or website, or is otherwise inappropriate (see our blocking and username policies for more information).

You are encouraged to create a new account and contribute to Wikipedia under a more appropriate username. Wikipedia:Username provides guidance on selecting an appropriate username. You may also edit Wikipedia without creating an account.

You are not allowed to edit Wikipedia under an inappropriate username. If you would like to discuss the block, you may appeal on your talk page or email the administrator who blocked you. Due to Wikipedia's mechanism for enforcing name changes, your IP address may be temporarily blocked. Unless you have also been engaging in vandalism or impersonation of another user, we will remove that block as soon as possible.

If you want to keep the contributions from your old account for your new username, please follow these directions: (1) Add {{unblock-un|your new username here}} to your user talk page. This is possible because even when you are blocked, you can still edit your own talk page. (2) Soon, an admin may come to unblock you. (3) You will have 24 hours after the unblock to file a request on Wikipedia:Changing username before you may be re-blocked. Note that this can only be done before you create the new one. For more information, please visit Wikipedia:Changing username. In many cases (especially if your account has few or no edits), it is a lot easier to create a new account.
