Segeg (woreda)

Segeg is one of the 47 woredas in the Somali Region of Ethiopia, named after its major town, Segeg. Part of the Fiq Zone, Segeg is bordered on the south by Dihun, on the northwest by Hamero, and on the northeast by Gerbo.

This woreda is primarily inhabited by the Darod clan of the Somali people.

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 26,714, of whom 12,173 were males and 14,541 were females; 3,713 or 13.90% of its population are urban dwellers, which is greater than the Zone average of 11.6%. Information is not available on the area of Segeg, so its density cannot be calculated.[1]
