Segagaga is a console game, which was only released in Japan for the Sega Dreamcast on March 29, 2001, towards the end of the Dreamcast's lifespan. With Sega having dropped Dreamcast production, some would say this game is it's big finale. Unfortunately, with it's Dreamcast oriented storyline and it's deep roots in Japanese culture, Segagaga will probably never see an official English localization.

[edit] Story

Set in the year 2025, the story depicts Sega with only a 3% share of the market. In Oota City, Tokyo (where Sega was first set up in Japan 1951), the company forms 'Project Segagaga': a plan to save SEGA from its main competitor, the evil DOGMA. As part of Project Segagaga, Sega takes two teenagers Taro Sega (the player's character) and Yayoi Haneda, and employ them to guide Sega to the top of the market.

[edit] Trivia

  • The game has cameo appearances from Sega characters past and present.
  • The DOGMA corporation is clearly intended to be Sony, Sega's biggest competitor at the time.
  • The game also references things associated with Sony's PS1 and PS2. Several hidden games are parodies.
  • A limited edition of Segagaga was released. It came with a shirt with the Segagaga logo, pin badges with the Game Gear, Dreamcast, Sega Saturn, Sega Mark III, Megadrive and SGGG logo on them, and a Segagaga organizer. [1]

[edit] English Port

In 2006 James Howell took up the job of creating an English patch for the game, the patch will fit onto a backed up version of the game. [2]
