Sefton, Sefton

Sefton is a village in the Metropolitan borough of Sefton in Merseyside, England.The name is thought to be derived from the Norse self - meaning sedge or rush and tun. In the past "Sephton" was an alternative spelling [1]. It is on the flood plain of the River Alt.
The Parish Church of St Helen (C of E) was first built around 1170 as the private chapel of the Molyneux family.
