Sefton, New South Wales

Sefton is a suburb of the city of Bankstown, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Sefton is loacated in the Electorate of Auburn in New South Wales state parliament and the Electorate of Blaxland in Federal Parliament. Sefton shares the post code of 2162 with neighbouring Chester Hill and borders with Birrong, Bass Hill, Chester Hill and the Auburn Suburb of Regents Park

The name Sefton was taken from a location in London, England. James Wood gave the name 'Sefton Park' to the 340 acres of land granted to him in 1839. Prior to subdivision, Sefton was an area of market gardens, orchards and poultry farms.

Amenities in Sefton Include Sefton Railway Station on the Inner West Line in the CityRail network, a small shopping centre, Sefton Infants School, Sefton High School, several parks, Sefton Golf Course and Jenson Oval.

Sefton Golf Course is a council owned Golf Course set on 15.6 hectares. Sefton Golf Course is a par 3 18 hole course which is open all year round. Facilities at Sefton Golf Course include: 2 practice putting greens 3 practice driving nets A clubhouse with a kiosk and Pro Shop A public carpark Undercover Seating

There are 2 Schools in Sefton which are Sefton Infants School and Sefton High School

Sefton Infants is a small Infants school catering for years Kindergarten to Year 2 and also includes a preeschool.

Sefton High School is a Co-educational, Partially Selective High School with just over 1000 students. Sefton's Selective school section goes from year's 7 - 10 and years 11 - 12 are intergrated into the community section of the school

Sefton like the rest of Bankstown is a very culturally diverse community with 170 000 people living in Bankstown, speaking over 60 different languages. The largest ehtnic groups in Sefton are people from Lebanese and Vietnamese backgrounds.
