Sedrick Strong trained under Steve Keirn, Jimmy Del Ray and Chris "Roderick Strong" Lindsey. After his training was complete, he formed a tag team with Roderick, with the duo billed as "brothers".

The Strong Brothers began working for the Floridian Independent Professional Wrestling promotion (later merged with NWA Florida), and on June 28, 2003 they defeated Wrongful Death for the IPW Tag Team Championships in St. Petersburg, Florida, Their reign lasted until September 20 of that year, when they lost to "Naturally Marvelous" (Scoot Andrews and Mike Sullivan) in a bloody steel cage match which left Roderick with a concussion and Sedrick requiring thirty stitches. After the Strong Brothers lost the titles, they began losing most of their matches, with Sedrick normally on the receiving end of a pin or submission hold.

On February 8, 2003 the Strong Brothers and Agent Steele came to the ring, ostensibly to save Mike and Todd Shane from a beating at the hands of the Alliance of Defiance. As the two groups of wrestlers fought, Roderick and Steele suddenly turned heel by betraying Sedrick, hitting him a steel chair and joining forces with the Alliance of Defiance.

Sedrick defeated Roderick for the Florida Unified Junior Heavyweight Championship on April 29, 2004 in New Port Richey, Florida. He lost the title to Naphtali on September 4. On February 26, 2005 at NWA Florida Rage in the Cage 7 Strong took part in a six way match for the X Division Championship which was won by Mikey Batts.

Sedrick entered the Jeff Peterson Memorial Cup in 2003 and 2004, losing to Reckless Youth in the final match in 2003 and losing to Roderick in the first round in 2004. He eventually developed the character of a cocky narcissist and reconciled with Roderick.

In 2003, Sedrick began wrestling outside Florida, making appearances with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, NWA Wildside and Jersey All Pro Wrestling. He competed in the ECWA Super 8 tournament that year, but was eliminated by Chance Beckett in the first round. He has also competed in Florida for the now defunct NWA-Sunray.
