Security mom
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
During the 2004 United States Presidential campaign pundits started talking about the "security mom", a successor to 2000's "soccer mom" and in theory a powerful voting bloc. Security moms were supposed to be concerned primarily with issues such as the war in Iraq, domestic terrorism and the security of their children.
As with all media constructs there is some question whether there ever was such a group, self- or externally-identified, and whether they were influenced by the messages directed at them. But it can't be denied that both major parties did try to curry favor with the group and this influenced the direction the campaigns took.
