Security Forums Dot Com
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Security Forums Dot Com (SFDC) is a free bulletin board with over 35,000 members, dedicated to discussing IT-related issues, with a focus on computer security.
The philosophy of the site focuses on sharing knowledge, learning from other people's experiences, discussing new technologies and troubleshooting computer problems.
SFDC has 29 separate forums, dedicated to the different areas of Information Technology. The main topics of discussion include Microsoft Windows, networking, programming, computer hardware, cryptology, GNU/Linux and malware removal and protection. There is also an area specifically devoted to the analysis of HijackThis logs, due to the increase of malware problems on the Internet. Whilst sharing information and troubleshooting problems is the main focus of the site, there is also a General Chat // Off Topic area for the discussion of general everyday topics.
The members of the board (including moderators) are unpaid and contribute to the community out of their own free time. Many of the staff and users work in the field of information security, or in information technology in general, and the answers to questions and discussions on the board are typically of a very high caliber. As a mark of the respect that SFDC garners, there are many employees of companies such as Microsoft and their partners who both post and link to SFDC, and the site is referred on the Microsoft IT Pro Security Zone as a community resource for Windows 2000.
