Second Restoration

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Second Restoration, or Seconde Restauration in French, refers to the return of Louis XVIII of France to the throne after the events of Napoleon's Hundred Days, and to his reign and that of Charles X. It lasted from 8 July 1815, the day of Louis's restoration, to 2 August 1830, when Charles abdicated in light of the July Revolution. It was followed by the July Monarchy of Louis-Philippe.

The First Restoration (Première Restauration) in 1814 was extremely short-lived because of Napoleon's ill-fated return from Elba.
