Second Indochina War

Second Indochina War is the established scholarly name for the inter-related conflicts in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia between 1954 and 1975. Especially in the United States, this conflict is commonly called the Vietnam War.
The First Indochina War was fought between 1945 and 1954, principally between the French colonial authorities and the nationalist-communist Viet Minh.
Ths Second Indochina War was fought between 1965 and 1973. The war was fought between The Allies (U.S., Austrailia, New Zealand, South Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and the Philipines against North Vietnam, China and the Soviet Union. The War ended with the Paris Peace talks in 1973. The North Vietnamese ended the war by signing a peace treaty.
The Third Indochina War was fought in two separate episodes in 1979 between Vietnam on the one hand and Cambodia and China on the other.The other episode was in 1975 when North Vietnam invaded South Vietnam. This was mistaken as part of the Second Indochina (Vietnam) war.
