Sebastian Faulks

Sebastian Faulks (born 20 April 1953) is a British journalist and former literary editor of The Independent newspaper who has since become a novelist.
He was educated at Wellington College and studied English at Emmanuel College, Cambridge.
He is best known for his trilogy of novels set in France: The Girl at the Lion d'Or, Birdsong, and Charlotte Gray, the latter two of which were bestsellers.
In 1998 Faulks won the Literary Review Bad Sex in Fiction Award.
In 2001 Charlotte Gray was made into a film starring Cate Blanchett and directed by Gillian Armstrong.
In April 2003 Birdsong came 13th in the BBC's Big Read initiative which aimed to identify Britain's best loved novels.
Sebastian Faulks appears regularly on British TV and Radio — most particularly as a team captain on BBC Radio 4's literary quiz The Write Stuff. He lives in Notting Hill, London with his wife and children.
