[edit] Image:GT40.jpg

Hello. Thanks for uploading image:GT40.jpg and for giving it a copyright tag. However, you also need to add source info to the image description page, most importantly who took the photograph (and therefore who owns the copyright), and maybe where and when it was taken. This is so we can be sure that the image is usable under the specified license, in this case the GFDL. Thanks, SamH 12:12, 11 Jan 2005 (UTC).

Thanks for adding that info, but can I just confirm that you are Sean O'Flaherty? Thanks again, SamH|Talk 11:02, 14 Jan 2005 (UTC).

[edit] Special thanks

For Wikifying the Charles Taze Russell article that was completely void of links, you have been awarded the Workingman's Barnstar. Robert McClenon 00:19, 22 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Michael J. Bernard

Thanks for your contribution to the Michael J. Bernard article. If you have any references, you should cite them at the bottom of the article as soon as possible; otherwise the article might be nominated for deletion in accordance with the guidelines at Wikipedia:Verifiability. Thanks. --TantalumTelluride 03:47, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks, mate, for wikifying my recent catastrophical double-article... I swear I searched for it, but I guess I didn't look hard enough... all fixed up now, I think. Cheers. --Pastor of Muppets 02:51, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wow! That was fast!

I entered the article "Future of an Illusion" just a few minutes ago, and almost instantaneously, you added the wikify notice. How'd you do it so fast? And, based on my article, what needs changing? Also, what do I need to do to be an administrator? Are you an administrator?--Screwball23 talk 03:13, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Solar disinfection

You suggest wikifying Solar disinfection... I had considered just making it a redirect to [[Solar water disinfection, and that may be the better option. But I thought it could conceivably refer to something else, so I made that short, explanatory page. What do you suggest? --Singkong2005 10:10, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Scouting

Why did you remove the link to the Boer War? Just interested. Also maybe a link should be added for Afrikaner in that para. Cheers, Bduke 00:09, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] POV check tag at Shuttleworth Foundation

I removed a POV check tag that you added to Shuttleworth Foundation because there was no stated justification. What was it that you felt was POV? Theshibboleth 18:13, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

Good job on noticing that copyright violation. Could you put in the edit summary a little note? Thanks! --Masssiveego 01:10, 20 March 2006 (UTC) on RC patrol.

Hey there. I understand why you changed the prod to speedy, but wouldn't it have been better to have simply added db-bio in addition to prod, as recommended at WP:PROD? The article is actually somewhat asserting her notability thru her GPA or whatever. If the speedy fails on that or another basis, readding the prod template resets the countdown. Just something to keep in mind--no need to delete a prod tag just to add a speedy tag. NickelShoe (Talk) 18:20, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Recent comment at WP:AFD/Kristi Yamaoka (second nomination)

Hi, you made a comment on the Kristi Yamaoka AFD "Ms. Yamaoka is probably closer to a person of the mouth on top of that." Did you meant to say "person of the month"? --Durin 21:21, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:CA-92.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:CA-92.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If you created it yourself you could replace the {{PD}} tag with {{PD-self}}.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. -- Paddu 20:18, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Hello, it seems you have created this article about a year ago. I wonder what was your source because I could only find a minearologist who was born and died in the same years. I could not find any mentions of rockets. Could you help out? Renata 18:10, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging for Image:S Sarandon.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:S Sarandon.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Possible move of RMS Republic page?

Hi...I'm in the midst of a project to develop thorough and consistent documentation of all of the White Star Line ships over the years. I'm getting ready to deal with the several Republics, and since you've done a lot of editing on RMS Republic I wanted to touch base with you so as to not step on any toes, etc. Here's the situation: there is currently an entry for an SS Republic, an American steamboat which I'm proposing to rename SS Republic (1853). Then I will be writing an entry for the first White Star version, which will be SS Republic (1872). Now comes the part involving you...to keep things consistent with the naming trends that have come out of Wikipedia:WikiProject_Ships, I would like to propose moving RMS Republic to SS Republic (1903). This keeps things a bit more orderly, and uses the "SS" term which is more standard (the RMS term only actually being used while Royal Mail is aboard). Oh, and there will then be a disambiguation page under SS Republic as well. Thoughts? Akradecki 18:31, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply. Before I do anything, I'll check a little more on the RMS/SS issue. It may come down to technical/proper usage versus popular usage, and I'm not sure what the project group's opinion is. Thanks! Akradecki 21:24, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Palo-Alto-at-Sea.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Palo-Alto-at-Sea.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. When if first uploaded the image it was on a California parks web page that said that all items on the page were public domain unless listed otherwise. The web page seems to have changed its copyright policy. I know the picture was taken in January, 1921, but I don’t know when it was first published. Seano1 22:55, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
Can you at least find the Web page again and give a URL on the image description page? —Bkell (talk) 03:12, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Camera filter

Hi. In the article Filter (photography) you removed "which can be several f-stop on a lens". You are absolutely correct, this was an inaccurate statement. However, when I added info about multi coating, I wanted to point out that putting a "bad" filter on a lens would slow it down, eg. making a f/2.8 comparable to a f/3.0, or something like that. Could it be rephrased instead of removed completely? Kricke 21:46, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Yes, it could be rephrased to be accurate. Seano1 21:49, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mac OS/HyperCard

You recently edited HyperCard with a comment that Apple never spun off the OS. I'm not sure this is entirely accurate either. IIRC, Claris sold and distributed the OS for some time? Maury 18:51, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

There's no mention of Mac OS being under Claris in the companies wikipedia article. That article also says that Apple created Claris so as not to compete with third party developers, doing that would not require moving the OS.
Sure it does, check it again. No, I didn't just add this. Maury 12:34, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
I don’t notice that before. Seano1 20:16, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pike (weapon)

I reverted your change to Pike (weapon) as the pikemen referred to in the sentence you revised were Flemish and Scots, not just Scots, so "royal" is the accurate description.

[edit] "Also see"

Thanks for your edit to the New York Passenger Ship Terminal article. Generally we use the term "See also" instead of "Also see." Nitpicky, but for the future it may come in handy. Thanks!

[edit] Commercial vessel template

Hello. As you may know, there are a variety of infobox templates used for ocean liners; at least one of which is ill-suited to passenger vessels. As a consequence of a discussion I had with User:Ebyabe at User_talk:Ebyabe#RMS_Queen_Mary, Ebyabe has generously agreed to create a template for passenger vessels. It appears at Template:Infobox Commercial Ship. Its creator needs assistance with the fields for the template. For example, it will need a tonnage field, but would not need a displacement field. Should beam be moulded breadth, or extreme beam? Should length be pp, or oa? Given your interest in this area, would you be willing to particpate in the project? If so, go to Template talk:Infobox Commercial Ship and weigh in. It may be that different templates are needed for passenger ships (gt), freighters (dwt, net), containerships (TEU) and that one size will not fit all. Thanks for your interest.
