[edit] British Empire — wow!
Image:British Empire Anachronous 2.PNG is one of the coolest things I've seen on here in a very long time. Well done! — OwenBlacker 03:27, July 17, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Somalia-Factions 2.PNG
I noticed this image was listed as a "don't know" copyright status. As this is, in my opinion, one of the most useful maps in illustrating the factions of Somalia, I would like to see that is not deleted due to copyright issues. In your image description for the second upload you state that is "GIMPed from another Wikipedia image". Could you provide which image it was GIMPed from? This would affect its copyright status, as it would be GFDL if based on a GFDL-licensed image, Creative Commons if based on a Creative Commons-licensed image or a license of your choosing (GFDL preferred) if based on a public domain image. Cheers, and continue making great maps! --Wikiacc (talk) 20:53, 5 October 2005 (UTC)
- There appears to be a similar situation with Image:Somalia-Puntland 2.PNG. Thanks, Wikiacc (talk) 21:24, 5 October 2005 (UTC)
- As with Image:Somalia-regions-states 2.PNG. --Wikiacc (talk) 01:02, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Image Tagging Image:British Empire Anachronous 2.PNG
Thanks for uploading Image:British Empire Anachronous 2.PNG. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, ie in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}.) See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much.--Wikiacc (talk) 20:58, 5 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image:British Empire Anachronous 3.PNG
Wow, good work on Image:British Empire Anachronous 3.PNG; that looks like a lot of effort. Definitely good work (and feel free to put it straight onto the article; I'm not that precious about my work), though the cacophony of colours is a bit confusing. I don't really know what you could do about it, though, if you wanted to change that.
My suggestions are either (a) leave it as-is and not worry about the number of colours; or (b) drop the number of colours to two (1: Britain, colonies and dominions; 2: occupations and protectorates) and just ignore all the time period issues (which are what's confusing about it, I think); I'm not sure the time distinction is so important as to risk the confusion, y'know (pticly when most people are only likely to see the thumbnail version, at a guess).
Finally, put it on the Wikimedia Commons, if you're willing to make it public domain, rather than on here; then it can more easily be used in other languages' Wikipedia. You still reference it as [[Image:Filename.png]], even though that image doesn't exist here — the wiki software handles that situation for us (though you'd need to use a different filename or get the existing one {{speedy}}-deleted).
By the way, I'm not checking Wikipedia as much as I used to, at the moment. If you wanna get hold of me and get impatient, feel free to email me instead.
Like I said, though, bloody good work; thank you! :o) — OwenBlacker 23:08, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Caricom map
Hey Sean II, I see you made a corrected version of the Caricom map. Your improvements were most welcome. Feel free to upload updated versions right in Commons, so they overwrite the originals. There's no need for us to store a superannuated version that will only confuse people in the future; besides, you can always look at past versions in the file's history. QuartierLatin1968 21:26, 22 August 2006 (UTC) (PS: If you don't have a Commons account yet, you should create one! Your map-making skills would be equally appreciated in Wikipedias of other languages.)
