Isadora Duncan was *not* a "Jazz" dancer. She was however one of the founders of modern dance, initiating a natural style of movement that was completely new in her time. For the record though she actively disliked Jazz and danced primarily to classical music, especially Chopin.

All the information about her being cast in Batman and then having to withdraw is stated in interviews on the Batman DVDs by herself and Tim Burton. I dont know if there is a link available, but it is on the DVD.
