Seavington St Mary

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Seavington St Mary is a village in the south of the county of Somerset in England.

Situated about 3 miles east of Ilminster, Seavington St Mary and the neighbouring village of Seavington St Michael comprise to form the civil parish of The Seavingtons. Seavington St Mary is the larger of the two with some 163 dwellings and 361 inhabitants at the 2000 census.

The villages lie in a hollow within a larger area of low-lying hills and valleys running broadly east-west. A part of the South Petherton Hundred , originally the area included seven settlements (seven tons) which have gradually merged or vanished; even in the last century Seavington Abbots was recognised as a separate entity.
