Searchmont, Ontario

Searchmont is a small community located northeast of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. It is best-known for the ski resort of the same name located within the community.

The town of Searchmont received its name in honor of Mr. T. C. Search.
Mr. T. C. Search was from Philadelphia and was the treasurer of the consolidated Lake Superior Company.
The Searchmont Community Centre recently was renovated in 2002 with the aid of SuperBuild grant provided on behalf of the Ontario Government. Currently the Searchmont Community Centre has a Recreation Cafe that is run by volunteers to help raise money for community needs, and help bring the community together.
