Sean Wilson

Sean Wilson (born 4 April 1965, Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire) is an English actor, best known for his role as Martin Platt in Coronation Street.
Sean's parents divorced when he was a child and his mother remarried, and Sean left home at the age of sixteen with hopes to become a graphic designer, and worked for an advertising agency when he left school. He then went on to work at Oldham Coliseum as a set-building YTS trainee. then teamed up with a pal and worked the pub/club circuit with a cabaret act, 'The Naughty Ladz', in order to get an Equity card.
He joined Coronation Street in 1985, having been previously turned down for the roles of Terry Duckworth and Kevin Webster. Sean was axed from the soap in late 2005 after refusing to play a controversial (under-age sex) storyline planned for his character, which he felt would demonise him and cause distress to his real-life family.
In private life, Sean is also a gifted artist and a keen fly-fisherman.
Sean appeared in the new ITV reality show 'Dancing on Ice' during January and February 2006. His skating partner was Marika Humphreys. They were eliminated on the February 11 2006 show despite Sean being praised by the judges throughout for his strong skating skills.
He has since made several guest appearances in other UK dramas, including 'Silent Witness', 'Casualty' and 'Dalziel and Pascoe'.
