Sean Landers

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sean Landers (born 1962), modern artist working and living in New York, USA.

Sean Landers was born in Palmer, Massachusetts. He is known for paintings with a central painted picture surrounded with text. He gained a Bachelors of Fine Arts from Philadelphia College of Art and a Masters in Fine Arts from Yale.

His first book is called [sic] due to his writing being quoted in magazines with the [sic] phrase written after it to indicate a misspelling.

His written paintings are written usually on either skies, or plain black or white. One series he did based on the seven deadly sins, using a pig for gluttony, cow for lust and horse for pride.

He has had works exhibited in American and international galleries, including the Taka Ishii Gallery in Tokyo, Japan. In 2004, he had a solo exhibition at the Kunsthalle, Zurich, Switzerland.

Sean Landers’ art is arguably eclipsed by his ego. Listen to his self-aggrandizing monologue at WFMU’s “Beware the Blog” site, where he rhapsodizes for 18 minutes about himself and his art:
