Sea jousting

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sea jousting is a sport which is practised in Western Europe, in France, Switzerland and Germany mainly. It is a form of jousting where each adversary is standing on a boat. The goal of the sport is to send the adversary in the water.

The jousters stand on a wooden platform on their boat. As the two competing boats row past each other, each jouster, protected only by a shield, uses his lance to push his opponent off the platform and into the water.
