[edit] Season Eleven summary

Season Eleven marked the beginning of MADtv's second decade, and like the original cast of the first decade, the season eleven cast was also noted for their willingness to produce shocking and controversial material in their sketches. Moreover, this particular cast is noted for being one of the youngest casts ever. With the exception of Michael McDonald and Stephnie Weir, all of the members of the cast were born in the 1970s and they joined MADtv after the year 2000. The ethnic composition of the season eleven cast was also the most diverse in the show's history, with three white American males, one Jewish male, two African-American males, two African-American females, four white females, and one Asian cast member.

Season Eleven was noted for the major changes were made in the cast. Aries Spears, who entertained audiences for eight years, left at the end of Season Ten, and Ron Pederson and Paul Vogt, despite being good entertainers, had to be let go due to salary problems. Spencer Kayden's limited screen time meant that she had to go as well, however, the other Season Ten featured player, Crista Flanagan, was promoted to repretory status. Finally, Stephnie Weir, who announced her departure at the end of Season Ten, agreed to stay until mid-season in order to provide a sense of continuity amongst the cast.

With vacancies on the MADtv cast, one new repertory cast memmber, Arden Myrin, and two new featured cast members, Nicole Randall Johnson and Frank Caeti, were added to the Season Eleven cast.

Myrin quickly got attention from the audience from impersonating a number of Hollywood's A-List female celebrities, including Jillian Barberie in FOX NFL Sunday sketches. She also impressed audiences as nerdy craftsworker Krista and Alana from Holly Meadow Estates. Johnson also impressed audiences playing many characters, like The Vancome Lady-like Ka-Son, and she impersonated many celebrities like Star Jones, Queen Latifah, and Chris Rock. Finally, Frank Caeti, like Frank Caliendo before him, didn't create any characters - aside from Baby Joey - but impressed the audience with his impersonations of Nick DiPaolo and former Dallas Cowboys coach-turned-FOX NFL Sunday announcer Jimmy Johnson. On the topic of hosting, no original cast members opted to host this season. Regardless, the special guests had variety to them. There were guests from sitcoms (Jeff Garlin, Alyson Hannigan, Neil Patrick Harris, Jaime Pressly, Michael Rapaport), wrestling organizations (John Cena) and past seasons of MADtv (Jeff Probst, Pauly Shore, Fred Willard). Pamela Anderson, a celebrity lampooned by cast members of past (such as Mo Collins and Arden Myrin), would make her first appearance on the sketch show's 250th episode.

New characters and sketches in Season 11 included FOX NFL Sunday sketches, which were featured 3 times in Season 11. They featured Arden Myrin, Frank Caliendo, and Ike Barinholtz, and parodied FOX NFL talk shows. Also, Ike and Bobby "On the Town" sketches made their debut this year. Ike and Bobby would often go out to off-set locations for sketches. Nicole Parker also brought her first solo recurring character, The Disney Girl, on the show in Season 11. The Disney Girl was a perky, happy young woman - the problem being she lives in the middle of the slums of the city, so spreading joy is a chore. Also, Crista Flanagan developed Wendy Walker, the host of a cooking show who gets more then a little stressed out over her meals.

[edit] Opening montage

The title sequence starts off with the MADtv logo appears across the skyline of Los Angeles which takes up of the whole screen. The theme song, which is performed by the hip-hop group Heavy D & the Boyz, begins and an announcer announces "It's MADtv! Starring...," and then he introduces (alphabetically) the name of each repertory cast member, followed by the featured cast. As he does so, the screen dissolves into three live action clips (all of the same clip) of an individual cast member. Then the three screens multiple until it takes up the whole screen. Then all of the multiple clips flip over and displays another clip of the same cast member. As the multiple clips are reduced to one clip, a still color photo of the cast member is super imposed on the screen with his/her name appearing in caption over the photo. When the last cast member/guest is introduced, the music stops and the title sequence ends with the phrase "You are now watching MADtv..."
