SD Sengokuden

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

SD Sengokuden is part of the SD Gundam franchise, a sub-franchise of the popular Gundam anime.

Set in the fictional land of Ark, SD Sengokuden re-imagines the mobile suits and mobile armors of the existing and more serious Gundam stories as super deformed sentient samurai in a setting reminiscent of ancient Japan.

[edit] Recurring characters

Musha Zeta
A famed horseman, he can combine with his steed into a powerful centaur. Resembles the MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam.

Shogundam
A lord who is responsible for sending the defenders out on missions. Reports to the Dai-Shogun.
Zaku Brothers
Three brothers who have sworn allegiance to their evil lord. They parody the underlings most heroes must fight their way through to reach the main villain in shōnen anime. Are infamous for being distracted by watermelons, upon the discovery of which they ignore everything else in order to cut it in half. In later works they appear to have made peace with their Gundam enemies and are now allies. Resemble the MS-05B Zaku I, MS-06F Zaku II and the AMX-011 Zaku III.

[edit] Character sub-groups

  • Musha Gundams- The most common citizens of Ark, comparable in size to a human adolescent upon maturity. Their designs are commonly based on popular existing designs though some series use original designs which only draw on base Gundam elements.
  • Dai-Shoguns- The most highest ranking individuals on the heroes side, Dai-Shoguns are often former low level heroes who experience and talent has seen them promoted. Their status is often reflected by highly detailed armour, which is balanced by the high level of power shown in even their most basic techniques.
  • Mobile Mushas- Based on the classic idea of mobile suits in the main Gundam franchise, Mobile Mushas are gigantic robot warriors employed by certain factions. Their immense power is offset by their rarity; in various stories, rival groups have clashed for possession of a Mobile Musha. Typically villain characters do not employ them, instead opting to mutate themselves to giant size using a great power source.
