Braunwald is a independent village and a micro community in Glarus (Switzerland) with a population of 413 (July 2003).
It is located 1256 m ü.M. on a terrace above the valley Linth.
Braunwald is a popular tourism destination.
The village is free of motor vehicles and only accessible via the funicular "Braunwaldbahn" starting at Linthal.
