Screen Producers Association

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Screen Producers Association of Australia (SPAA) was formed in 1956 and was originally named the Film and Television Production Association.

The Screen Producers Association of Australia (SPAA) is the industry body that represents Australian independent film and television producers on all issues affecting the business and creative aspects of screen production.

SPAA members include television, feature film, animation, documentary, TV commercial and interactive media production companies as well as services and facilities providers such as post-production, finance, distribution, casting agencies, legal companies and other service-based companies. SPAA is a not-for-profit association, funded from member levies and fees. It is not subsided by government or commercial organizations.

SPAA represents its membership on industry policy through representations with government, film and television bodies, broadcasters, legal firms and major industry players. This representation enables members to have an effective say in government decisions, industrial relations and commercial negotiations with broadcasters and distributors.

SPAA offers advice on industrial relations and policy as well as guidance on intellectual property, business affairs and negotiations with government film funding bodies and broadcasters. Through special events and seminars SPAA also offers professional development and networking opportunities. The 2 main events of the year are the SPAA and Fringe Conferences.
