[edit] Background

Scott McMahan is a software developer. The majority of his career has been working with UNIX (HP-UX, AIX, Solaris, etc) and Linux software and platforms. Currently, Scott is concentrating on mainframe software development.

His eclectic interests include the band Genesis (for which he edited a Discography). Scott was once a writer of fiction, poetry, etc but has stopped doing this.

The demands on his professional career have prohibited Scott from doing much with respect to hobbies or activities, but his interest lies chiefly in historical computing, especially from the year 1987 (which has personal significance for Scott). He has built a hard-disk image of MS-DOS software from that year, including such rare programs as WordPerfect 4.1, Turbo Pascal 4.0, and Turbo C 1.5. Some information about this is at the DOS 1987 project, including some interesting hacker-related documents. He has attempted to IPL an instance of ITS in an emulator, but was stopped by the lack of documentation.

Scott graduated from the University of North Carolina at Asheville UNCA in 1994 with a BS degree in computer science. His resume is online.

Scott is a fan of the UNC Tar Heel college basketball team.

[edit] What 1329 Means

The numbers were made up off the top of his head when Scott was forced to come up with an AOL Instant Messenger handle. Both are uniform numbers. #13 refers to UNC Tar Heel women's basketball player Maggie Goloboy. #29 is the uniform number of Scott's favorite baseball player, John Smoltz.

[edit] Online Information
