[edit] Proposed Merger
I think that this page should be merged into the one about GIMPshop. Apart from writing GIMPshop, the only real notable thing about Moschella seems to be the fact that he works on Attack of the Show!. This, along with generic bio stuff (birth year, etc) could easily be put into one or two paragraphs in that article. If this goes through, I plan on rewriting the GIMPshop article, both to expand it and to make it a bit cleaner.
His homepage has a (tiny) bio. I also found two interviews with him (G4 interview. OSDir.com interview). Bowmanjj 18:18, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose - The two are separate subjects. Attack of the Show has nothing to do with GIMPShop and should not be mentioned on GIMPShop's page. If Scott Moschella was only noteable for GIMPShop, I would agree that he not have his own page. However, since he is notable for several things (and may go on to do more), he should have a page to collate what he has done. Mikesc86 01:38, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose - I see no way in which both subjects can be covered fully in one article. --Falcorian (talk) 17:36, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose - To put them together would be to assume that Scott Moschella and GIMPshop were one and the same, and they're not. - AndrewBellis 20:49, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose - Scott Moschela will do other things after GIMP shop and GIMPshop will continue aside from Moschella. They've got different futures and thusly they should stay separated by Wikipedia. Ayavaron 08:52, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
- Belatedly support. His little bio can be inserted into GIMPshop, since that's the thing he's actually known for; his part in Attack of the Show can be mentioned in the article on that (which currently does not mention him by name, suggesting that he is not a well-known personality w.r.t the show). He isn't actually notable as a person in himself, and seems not to meet the actual guidelines we have for such matters. — Haeleth Talk 14:04, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- Support This article by itself does not have any purpose. If it's not merged, it should be deleted.Craig Sniffen 23:09, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- Support - But, if the article should be merged with something else, wouldn't it be better fit in the Attack of the Show! article instead? --CCFreak2K 23:06, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Merger Aftermath
Well, not much of a consensus was reached. We have four against, and three for. The two arguments that seem to be coming from those of you against is "they are seperate" and "Gimpshop will go on beyond Moschella / Moschella will go on beyond Gimpshop".
I concede the point that these two pages deal with somewhat seperate things. However, the only information available about Moschella (that I could find) are the things I linked in the "proposed merger" post above. My rationale there was the fact that having a tiny stub of a bio with mostly-redundant information is not all that helpful for the reader. Is correctness more important than helpfulness?
As for the "going beyond" argument, are you guys privy to some info that I don't have? I realize that Moschella will "do more stuff" in his life (obviously). However, if we continue this argument to its logical end, this would mean maintaining a bio for everyone who has ever worked on or forked any software project ever, simply because they "might do something else" that's notable. And for Gimpshop going beyond Moschella, I'm not really sure. It still seems like it's a one-man show.
Anyway, have fun making this into a real bio page. Bowmanjj 17:24, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
