[edit] Organisation
There is a county office in Kendal. The County is divided into nine Scout Districts:
- Barrow In Furness[5][6]
- Duddon and High Furness[7]
- Eden[8][9]
- Kentdale[10][11]
- Millom[12]
- Reivers (Carlisle area)[13][14]
- Solway/Derwent[15]
- Western Lakes[16]
- Workington[17]
[edit] Camp sites
With the County covering the Lake District, with the highest mountains in England, it attracts a lot of Scouts from elsewhere for summer camps. There are Scout owned camp sites at:
- Ennerdale, on the south-west shore of Ennerdale Water.[18] This was previously owned by the former West Cumberland Scout County. For over 50 years, the Oxford University Scout and Guide Group has had a close association with the camp site, with students camping for a week before and after the summer camping season in the University Easter vacation and the university Summer vacation in September.[19]
- Ratlingate International Camping Centre, near Carlisle, is run by Reivers District Scout Council.[20]
- Great Tower is situated in Cumbria but it owned by the West Lancashire Scout County. It is close to Lake Windermere, between Bowness-on-Windermere and Newby Bridge.[21]
