[edit] History
The Scottish Football League was established in 1890 as the first professional league in Scottish football. At the end of the 1890-91 season, The first championship was shared by Dumbarton and Rangers.
Scottish football has largely been dominated by two Glasgow clubs, Rangers and Celtic. Only 18 of the 109 league titles have been won by a club outside the Old Firm, the last in 1985. The reigning champions are Celtic.
