Scott Williams (basketball)

Note that the Tar Heels have had two players named "Scott Williams". In addition to the center described on this page, Coach Roy Williams' son Scott Williams played on the team as a walk-on.

Scott Christopher Williams (born March 21, 1968 in Hacienda Heights, California) is a former professional basketball player in the NBA.

Undrafted out of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the 6' 10" power forward/center signed with the Chicago Bulls in 1990. He played four seasons with the Bulls, mostly as a reserve, and won three championship rings from 1991 to 1993. In 1994, he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers, where he played for 4½ injury-plagued seasons before being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in 1999. His career saw a brief resurgence in Milwaukee, where he averaged career-highs of 7.6 points and 6.6 rebounds during the 1999-2000 season. Williams also played for the Denver Nuggets, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, and Cleveland Cavaliers. Now retired, beginning with the 2005-2006 NBA season, Williams accepted the Cleveland Cavaliers' offer to be television color commentator for Cleveland Cavaliers telecasts on FSN Ohio, sitting alongside Michael Reghi.

For the 2006-07 season, Williams was paired with former Detroit Pistons announcer Fred McLeod, who replaced Reghi as play-by-play man on the FSN Ohio telecasts.
