Scott Macartney

Scott Macartney (born 19 January 1978 in Seattle, Washington) is an American alpine skier.
Macartney grew up skiing every weekend at the Crystal Mountain in the state of Washington. His parents were members of the volunteer ski patrol at the mountain, located 76 miles southeast of Seattle. Macartney did not attend a ski academy but graduated from public high school while working his way up through regional teams with almost no funding.
He competed at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and was the first person to start in the downhill event at these Olympics, eventually finishing in 29th position. He reached his first World Cup podium finish on 29 January 2006 when he became second at the Super G in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
The 2006 Winter Olympics were his second Olympics. In Turin he finished 16th in the men's combined, 15th in the downhill and 7th in the Super G.
