Scott Michael DuBose (born January 31, 1971) is an American country music singer from Chicago Il, He is currently a staple on the Midwest club circuit

Early life

Scott DuBose was born on the south side of Chicago at south at little Company of Mary Hospital. His father was born and raised in Dixie community (Now part of Hattiesburg) Mississippi on DuBose Road and his mother was from a community on the south side of Chicago called “Canary Ville” which is part of the “back of the yards” area.

DuBose learned to sing at an early age while attending Hazelgreen Baptist Church. He got his love of country music from both of his parents. As a child very little “Rock and Roll” was played in his home. He spent his childhood mainly listening to WJJD Chicago. WJJD was the country music station in Chicago until it changed format in the early 80’s. Scott DuBose spent the majority of his childhood and early adult hood in the south suburban Chicago town of Palos Hills.

During high school he was very athletic. He Played football and secured a conference championship for his wrestling team with a 20-2 wrestling record.

While in high school he began working at the legendary southside Honky Tonk “Lake n Park Inn”. Lake n park was the inspiration for the Country bar in the movie “The Blues Brothers”. At age 17 he began cutting his teeth in the country bar scene but not as a performer. He worked as a bar back/bouncer for a number of years. He took the lessons learned from watching the Lake n park House band “Breakaway” into his own work.

Before Scott began his career in country music he spent a number of years in Chicago Theater. He Stared in Studs Turkels “Working” at the Boxer Rebellion theater and as Donnie Dolcie at “Tony and Tina’s wedding” Chicago for 4 and a half years. He Sang in the “Tony and Tina’s” house band as Donnie and Sang with Frankie Avalon 30 plus times during his time in the production.

He Formed the Band “101Ranch” in June 2002 with original members Troy Tegerstrom (guitar, pedal steel), Mike Maz (Drums) John Labuzuski (Bass), and Bob Mickey (Lead Guitar). They played their first show in January of 2003. In June of 2006 the “101Ranch” Changed to” Scott DuBose and the 101Ranch” Placing him squarely in front of the band he created.



Debut album

Currently he is working on his Debut album at a recording studio in Chicago.



Recent work

Currently the single that he is releasing “Better end of the Deal” was inspired by the events in a friend’s life. Scott’s friend was going through a divorce and after a couple conversations, and a couple of beers, Scott came up with the concept.
