[edit] Life as a Blue Jay

Scott began his MLB career with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2002 appearing in 58 games and logging 66.0 innings. He ended his first season with a 1-4 record with a high ERA at 5.73.

Cassidy was also unsuccessful in picking up a save as he blew all 7 opportunities he had. Out of all the 58 contests that he appeared in, none of them were starts.

He then spent the following year (2003) in Triple A where he was pitching for the Syracuse Chiefs as a reliever.

    [edit] Dealt to Boston

On April 18, 2004 the Jays moved Scott Cassidy to their AL East rival Boston Red Sox for a player to be named. Scott didn’t prove to be a major acquisition as he finished the 2004 campaign playing on the Red Sox’s Triple A affiliate in Pawtucket. He also spent the first part of the 2005 year in class Triple AAA splitting time between the Pawtucket and Portland squads.

He than pitched in 1 game for Boston coming in as a relief pitcher. However, he failed to record a single out but surrendered 3 runs on 4 hits. His ERA as a member of the fabled Boston Red Sox was 40.50. He was then traded on July 19, 2005 for the second time in his career. This time it was to a team in the National League, the San Diego Padres.

Outfielder Adam Hyzdu came over to Boston in return.

    [edit] Pitching in the NL

With San Diego for the second half of 2005 he had a 1-1 won-loss record with a much lower ERA then he had as a member of the Red Sox at 6.57. This season (2006) he has posted a much more respectable 2.72 ERA while winning 5 games.

He has thrown 39.0 innings in his 38 appearances all of which have had him come out of the bullpen as a Padres reliever.

    [edit] Scouting report

Cassidy is able to throw a fastball and a changeup. He also throws an occasional curve ball.
