Scoto-Norman clans

Ever since William the Conqueror made his conquest of England in 1066, there has been an increasing Norman influence in Scotland. Several lowland clans intermarried with Normans who moved north, over time, Teutonic (Germanic) Norman family traditions and structures merged with those of the native Gaels in many lowland families.
