Scolt Head Island

Scolt Head Island is an offshore barrier island, 10 km west of Wells-next-the-Sea, in north Norfolk, United Kingdom.

It has been designated as a National Nature Reserve.

The island is steadily growing westward.

The island comprises of sand dunes, saltmarsh, intertidal sand and mud flats, and shingle.

The island supports nationally and internationally important numbers of breeding terns of the following species: Sandwich, Roseate Arctic and Little as well as wintering shorebirds and wildfowl.

A seasonal (spring/summer) ferry connects the island with the village of Burnham Overy Staithe.
