Science and technology in Canada
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Canadian science is believed to have started with Jesuits who came to New France (a region which would become the Canadian Province of Quebec, eventually). During the 1800s Jesuit involvement in science was replaced by many local learned societies, dedicated to conducting science.
Today, Canadian science is contrasted with its American Counterpart by being overseen and funded by the Government.
