[edit] Personalizing a page
How do I add stuff like pictures and other stuff like you have on your page. If you know, my username/screenname is weatherdude.Weatherdude 00:30, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
- For images, see Help:Images and other uploaded files. User pages edit the same way as articles and the rest of Wikipedia, so if you figure out something that works on Wikipedia, it will work on your user page. SchuminWeb (Talk) 22:26, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] In-Public
Thank you for your message.
I can confirm that in-public is not a commercial photography website. It is not to used to promote individual photographers work it is used to promote Street Photography. It has been set up by Street Photographers for Street Photographers. None of the photographers involved in in-public have made any commercial gain through the website. So therefore, I would like to add in-public to Wilkepedia as a useful source for people who are interested in and would like to see and know more about Street Photography.
Please do not remove this link again.
Thank you.
In-Public does promote Street Photographers, as it offers a gallery of only a select group of Street Photographers that are hand picked by the site's administrators. It has been removed in the past and deemed inappropriate prior to your adding the site. Please respect the determination by past users and cease the adding of this site on a daily basis. If we allowed this site to be included, then we would have to allow each and every site that includes pictures by street photographers, something that In-Public chooses not to do by the way.
The Photographers vote collectively on who will be invited to show work. Your work was obviously not of a high enough standard. Feel free to re-submit your work to them in the future.
Please do not remove this link again.
I will be forwarding this dialogue to the Wilkipedia Administrators.
Thank you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.141.241.122 (talk • contribs).
- We have discussed the in-public issue at Talk:Street photography, and many other editors besides me have removed the link. Thus the consensus seems to be that it is considered spam, and you are hereby asked not to repost it, because we will remove it. SchuminWeb (Talk) 22:09, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Temp/Palenque
I have deleted that page, the result of someone else's poor attempt at an interwiki translation on the Palenque artlce. Usable material seems to have been incorporated into main article, so the Temp IMO was no longer needed. However I wanted to ask you in the future not to move articles into someone else's user space without informing that user. Thanks, -- Infrogmation 21:07, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Space Shuttle and event tags
Is the 72-hour tab "valid"? By that, do you mean, "accurate"? Of course it is. But the article is about the space shuttle program, not about the December 2006 mission. This tag is absolutely unnecessary, it adds nothing of value to the article, and contributes to tag litter.
By this logic, there should be a current events tag on George W. Bush, since "details may change rapidly as events progress". And hey, Christmas is just around the corner. The article on Christmas has a section on the "Economics of Christmas". Now this year's shopping season may progress in different ways than expected. Should there therefore be a "Current Events" tag on the article on Christmas?
No, Wikipedia is not a paper encyclopedia (thank goodness), and we can update it at will. But neither is it a newspaper. Even if something does get updated during this launch, it does not necessitate this tag. Suppose we learn something new about the shuttle program during the launch. Then update it. But there is no reason to suppose that this article is going to change in any substantive, unexpected way over the course of this next mission. Unschool 22:39, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
- For discussion on this matter that was cross-posted here, see Talk:Space Shuttle program. SchuminWeb (Talk) 23:00, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
-
- I understand your concern about the cross-posting, but could not figure out what else to do. You specifically state on your page that you want messages addressed to you to be posted here, but I felt that the message was also of interest to the general discussion. I must confess, this is not the first time that I've felt this minor dilemna. Any advice on how to handle it (I have asked others before, but gotten no universally applicable advice) would be appreciated. Unschool 23:08, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- My general rule of thumb is that if it's related to the user specifically, then it belongs on their user talk page. If it's something that is of more general concern, even if it also is likely of concern to the user, then post it to the article's talk page and skip the user talk page. More than likely, the user in question has the page watchlisted anyway, especially if they show up in the edit history. And besides that, since Wikipedia works on consensus, the opinion of the group is the important thing, rather than any one individual user. SchuminWeb (Talk) 04:49, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Toyota Estima
On the Toyota Estima article, a guy calling himself TEOCWebmaster has described your correction of the link to the T.E.O.C. as "vandalism". This guy is part of a breakaway group which is causing trouble for the Toyota Estima Owners Club. I have corrected his link back rather than remove it as you did but would be very grateful if you could keep an eye on it. The correct link to our Club is www.estimaownersclub.com and not .org
Many thanks for your vigilance and help.

T.E.O.C. 16:20, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
- Well, regardless of whatever off-wiki trouble this user may have been causing, the page fails Wikipedia's own link guidelines saying no forums, and that site is primarily a discussion forum from what I can tell. SchuminWeb (Talk) 16:23, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

- I'll take care of it. I've had both articles watchlisted for a long time, so I'll get it. Also, not having yet looked at the talk pages, have you posted similar information to the articles' talk pages? This appears to be something of general interest to the article's participants. [edit] Ref conv
Sorry for the downtime. References converter is now back up and running. About a week ago the hard drive in my server crashed. Luckily it stayed together long enough to allow me to pull all the data off onto a new hard drive, but I still had to go through the process of installing Linux on the new hard drive, installing all the necessary programs, and loading in all of the old data from the server. I got all of my essential services up within two days (CVS, Apache, Wiki), but I kind of forgot about web scripts, which I finally got around to fixing today. Everything should be fully functional again. If you see any bugs, just send me a message. You are receiving this message because you are on the spamlist. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, simply remove your name. --Cyde Weys 19:14, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] D2C page.
Since you were the last to edit the D2C platform page I thought I'd chime in and let you know that I have revised the page to indicate the DEW98 component carryover present in D2C according to Mustang Chief Engineer Hau Thai Tang as per a Motor Trend article on the 2005 Mustang. For a direct quote....
- Thai-Tang adds that 'at the component level, there's about 35-percent reusability from other Ford products. But in terms of pure DEW98 carryover, there's not a lot; the front chassis rail architecture, floorpans, trans tunnel, saddle-style fuel tanks are similar. The rest is new.'
....as you can see given the commonality in structure between D2C and DEW98 it would be impossible for D2C to be a development of C1. And this is simply a reference to direct DEW98 carryover. The above makes it clear that D2C is a development of DEW98 oweing several of it's major chassis components, and virtually all of it's design hardpoints, to DEW98.
Thanks for your attention and have a good weekend. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Syr74 (talk • contribs).

Thanks for uploading Image:Mercury Sable 1988.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. - I don't doubt the "realness" of your game. I have no doubt that your circle of friends plays a drinking game called "Whammy". [edit] Bethesda Station
The suicide made the newspaper because it was public and public suicides make the newspaper, and because it delayed the trains for a few hours that day. We don't list all suicides. Did her death lead to a change in the station's layout? In the Washington Metro's policies on where people are allowed to stand?
Yes, it's part of the station's history, but it's not relevant. It's as much a part of the station's history as the man who had a heart attack there in 1997, or the girl who had an epileptic seizure in 2002.
I have removed it, again. If you wish to reinstate it, you'll have to convince me of why. DS 14:09, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- So if you are to remove this one, would you also remove the other similar suicide on Columbia Heights? SchuminWeb (Talk) 04:39, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Ski mask on mannequin head.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Ski mask on mannequin head.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. [edit] Get Your Facts Straight
You just don't know your facts. My grandfather was on Step By Step, he told me so himself. Just because he was a very humble man and didn't brag to the world about it, doesn't mean that selfish people like yourself need to ruin his reputation. If you want to talk about vandalism, then look at your picture my dear sir. You vandalized my computer screen with such a display of corpulence and just downright ugliness. [edit] Whammy
I am not playing with Whammy. It is actually a game. Dont you have anything better to do than delete a page that actually exists. WHo are you to say that this exists or does not exist. That is why pictures were added. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Eciarletta (talk • contribs).
- As I've said before, I do not question whether or not someone actually plays a game called "whammy". I do question the notability of said game for inclusion in an encyclopedia. Additionally, I have found no reliable sources to substantiate your facts. Once we establish those two points, then we may have something. Until that time, though, I don't see it having a long-term home on Wikipedia. SchuminWeb (Talk) 04:47, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Skyview High School (Thornton, Colorado)
I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Skyview High School (Thornton, Colorado), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. —Dgiest c 17:15, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'll say that while it seems to be relatively non-notable despite everyone's best efforts to prove notability, you have quite an uphill battle in regards to it since it's a school. In fact, I don't know if you're aware of it or not, but Skyview was the subject of an AfD last May, which resulted in a result of "keep". Good luck to you in pursuing deletion of a somewhat controversial article that (in my opinion) needs to be put out of its misery, but I don't see it happening. - On User:GabrielF/AfDs is alist of AfDs. You commented in one of these listed AfDs.
- What happens is like minded editors watch User:GabrielF/AfDs, and then vote in unison on any page that is listed on User:GabrielF/AfDs.
- User:GabrielF/AfDs is a continuation of User:GabrielF/ConspiracyNoticeboard, (except GabrielF is the only contributor to User:GabrielF/AfDs).
- There was a heated debate about User:GabrielF/ConspiracyNoticeboard, here Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:GabrielF/ConspiracyNoticeboard (2nd mfd).
- I strongly am against such user noticeboards, which I feel is a form of Canvasing, and so I messaged you and two other wikiusers to tell you all that one of the AfDs you were involved in was on User:GabrielF/AfDs.
- I removed your comments on my talk page, I will watch your talk page okay? That way the conversation is in one place. Thanks. Travb (talk) 10:58, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

You actually would want to contact User:Peter Mollard about that, since he's the one who originally contributed the images. [edit] Deletion of Jose Rodriguez (Activist)
Haven't been back lately but was very active today and decided to check Jose Rodriguez (activist) and low and behold looks like sometime in last 6 weeks they decided he wasn't important enough to keep. However, they still have the disambiguation with the OTHER Jose Rodriguez. And they still have the shell of a page entitled Jose Rodriguez (activist). I'm not going to fight for it or anything but am just curious as to whether this was an official dropping of the page; if I can easily find an explanation just to send him; and anything else of interest you might have to say. You may have been watching the page and more on top than I was. Have made some big changes to and important page and will continue to do so, so will be paying more attention in the future :-)
Carol Moore 05:07, 27 February 2007 (UTC) carolmooredc
- According to the deletion log, Jorge Rodriguez (activist) was deleted after a proposed deletion was allowed to expire. The article was deleted by Srikeit, but I don't know who originally posted the proposed deletion. For that matter, I also don't know what the reason was for the proposed deletion. I have/had the article watchlisted, and I don't even remember the prod nomination going in, and so I should have seen it. I'm considering contesting the prod, which would get the article restored, though it might be subject to an AFD after that. SchuminWeb (Talk) 06:03, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
- I went ahead and listed it on deletion review, and so the article should be restored soon. SchuminWeb (Talk) 07:04, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Radio Pages
Please, if you would, add an infobox to the radio pages as you create them, like with WSVA. Here is a template that might help.
(edit: sorry, I had to use a picture, the text version wasn't working properly) That is from WZRV-FM in Front Royal, VA, so you get the idea of what on the infobox. If you don't have any information for a section, say "airdate" leave it blank and it won't come up in the final product. Most call sign info can be found on the FCC website under the station's listing, then under "Station Info", then click "Click for Details" when the "Station Search Results" screen comes up, then click "Call Sign History". Other technical info, like wattage, tower height and whatnot can be found on the station's main listing on the FCC site.
Other than that, great work! Please let me know if you need any help and I will be glad to lend a hand. Rock on....SVRTVDude (Yell - Toil) 00:53, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- I add the white space cause I hate crunched up infoboxes, so I use that. With WKCY and WSVA, there isn't much information that I know so I can't add alot to it to "uncrunch" it. If you have 'SVA or 'KCY history, please add it. - SVRTVDude (Yell - Toil) 08:01, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
-
- There's certainly nothing shameful about having the infobox extending beyond the article. A lot of articles, many being stubs, have it. All that extra whitespace, however, looks tacky. SchuminWeb (Talk) 08:10, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
-
-
- I was meaning if the bottom infobox is crunched into the side infobox...but you did that cool thing so it keeps them apart, but takes away all the whitespace (awesomeness!) so the way it is now, is perfect. I didn't know you could have the page the way it is and not have whitespace. Figured it was whitespace or crunched infoboxes. Rock on....SVRTVDude (Yell - Toil) 08:22, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

- Oh, that BR clear tag. Yeah, that works well for keeping bottom boxes out of everything, as well as keeping infoboxes separate. Plus it occasionally is helpful with images. SchuminWeb (Talk) 14:10, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re-rating anti-war articles
Looks like a good job that your doing on up-grading the anti-war movement article ratings. Unfortunately I have a lot less time on my hands then I did when I started contributing to Wikipedia; I am currently working full time and trying to do a part time PhD. However, I'll try and make some time helping out with new ratings. Just let me know what needs doing. Keep up the good work.--JK the unwise 11:24, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] BSoD Article
Why did you remove the BSoD simulation link? It's not dead. Maybe something happened on your end while browsing? ~~Eugene2x Sign here ☺ ~~ 22:31, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
- At the time of my visit, it was not working correctly, therefore I presumed it was dead. I see it is working now, and so good deal. I also see that you reverted me on that, and I have no problem with that. SchuminWeb (Talk) 02:05, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] WP:MALL
I notice that you contributed to the proposed WP:MALL guideline. I see that it has just been tagged as "rejected." Do you agree with that opinion? Thanks. Edison 19:10, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- I think it would be a good guideline, but at this juncture, I don't see it getting enough support to be adopted. SchuminWeb (Talk) 02:25, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:March on the Pentagon flyer.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:March on the Pentagon flyer.jpg.
Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. SchuminWeb (Talk) 21:05, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Hey
Hey thanks for the welcome, ive been around wikipedia for a while but not really doing any real editting. The photo of the shield bloc isnt actually mine personally but a friends who told me to put it up. I got alot more photos from the march (more specifically of the SDS shield/black bloc because of my involvement in it (if you look in the photo i upload, the guy on the right with the megaphone is me, and the fact that i am an sds member. Tom Good of Next Left Notes took some great photos ([2]) also, i noticed that you had a photo on your own website of some people that were in the bloc. I was wondering, do you have anymore photos of the march yourself? I am trying to gather up as many as possible, I had a really great time. Much Thanks WMWC 08:13, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] White Star Mills pic
Why is the datestamp a problem on the photo? Is there a policy against it or do you object because it is tacky? Thanks. –BozoTheScary 18:32, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Tacky. Very tacky. SchuminWeb (Talk) 18:50, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
-
- You might want to mention why the datestamp is a problem on the page talk or on Weatherdude's talk, just to head off a miscommunication. That pic's been whacked 3 times now in fairly short order, so he's probably getting more than a little irritated over it. Some of it was undoubtedly his fault, but that probably only makes it more frustrating. –BozoTheScary 21:52, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] I AM TICKED OFF
Look, Mr.Schuminn, Have you ever been to Staunton, Virginia? You know that it has a lot of very very interesting buildings, and you know that the page here on wikipedia does not tell anything about the city. And i hope you know what White Star Mills is. I have many more pictures of staunton, and I know a lot about its history. So im just trying to contribute to wikipedia, and if you don't want my "tacky" contributions then I will delete my account and never visit this site. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Weatherdude (talk • contribs) 00:32, 29 March 2007 (UTC).
- First of all, calm down. That said, as for whether or not I have ever been to Staunton, yes. I have. Many times. I live in Stuarts Draft. And therefore I am quite familiar with Staunton. My concern is not as much the image, but the watermark contained therein - the date stamp. The date stamp needs to go, that's just all there is to it. I'm neutral on the image itself. The stamp can easily be photoshopped out of the image with very little effort - even more so since the object that the datestamp is sitting on is out of focus. And lastly, as to whether or not you wish to continue posting on Wikipedia, that is entirely your own decision. SchuminWeb (Talk) 00:48, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
