The Schuylkill Valley School District is located in northern Berks County in southeastern Pennsylvania in the United States, the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country. The district lies in the valley created by the Blue Mountains to the north and the Schuylkill River to the south. It encompasses approximately 53 square miles, including the municipalities of Bern, Centre, and Ontelaunee Townships and the boroughs of Leesport and Centerport. The district is both rural and suburban, including farmland as well as business and light industry.

The Schuylkill Valley School District campus is located at the intersection of Pennsylvania State Routes 61 and 73, 1 mile south of Leesport and 6 miles north of Reading. Approximately 10 administrators, 140 teachers, and 92 support personnel serve a student enrollment of approximately 1,900.

The district is comprised of three schools, all located on the campus:

The name derives from the Schuylkill River, which flows through the valley where the district is located.

[edit] Construction

As of November 2006, the high school is under construction to expand the building due to the expanding population in the district. Many farmers in the area sold their farms for land development. The project is taking longer than the district believed it would. The construction, which started in mid-August on the front walkway for the senior lot, is almost completed, although the roof has yet to be put in place.
