Musician: Jim Schumacher Association with Dave Coutts and Ten Inch Men

Back in 1983 I was co-creator of the Long Beach band Ten Inch Men. Without the efforts of Mike Draghi, Jim Boan, Marvin McNeal(Recording Engineers), Dana Allen (Manager), Niki Randolph and all involved, Ten Inch Men would not have become this incredible web of personalities.

Band Members included: Singer, Songwriter, Guitarist Dave Coutts Singer, Songwriter, Keyboardist Jim Schumacher Writer, Composer, Guitarist Mark Templin, Songwriter, Bassist Rusty Riopelle and Drummer Steve Coutts (Brother of Dave Coutts).

Although the original band never got signed to a major label, their music was well accepted within the college communities. Their 1984
12" single Good For The Soul received heavy rotation and made it to #3 on radio station KNAC, Long Beach.

In March of 1984, Ten Inch Men performed their first stadium size show at Long Beach State, opening for the Punk band X. Other concerts and community support included "Hands Across America","California Lifeguards (Kick The Can Against Hunger Food Drive)", Los Angeles Street Scene" "Welcome Back The Marines", "The Catalina Blow-Out Beach Party".

Between 1984-1985, several unreleased live shows and studio recordings where recorded. Spin-off videos where created from the songs Eyes Of Blue, High Society and Pink Champage; all three aired briefly on a local Long Beach cable station.

In 1986, Ten Inch Men released their 4-Song EP Hours In Pain. This release had the studio recording Flower Power, Bars Of Time, Brick Wall and New Eyes. Flower Power became the bands signature song. It made it up to #1 in New York with light to medium airplay on many college radio sations across the country.

In 1986, the original band disbanded. Dave Coutts, Mark Templin and Steve Coutts kept Ten Inch Men alive buy bringing in Lisa Marie Presley 's first husband Danny Keough as the new bass player.

After the (1993, Victory release) "Pretty Vultures" the band was dropped from the Label. Mark Templin went on to marry Carrie Hamilton daughter of Joe Hamilton and Carol Burnett. Dave Coutts joined former members of the "Stone Temple Pilots" to create the band Talk Show and I went on to archive Capitol Records and Motown Records Tape Archives.
