School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) was established in 1955 by the Government of India to provide facilities for rural, urban and regional planning, the School of Planning and Architecture began as School of Town and Country Planning.

Separately, a Department of Architecture was established in 1941 at Delhi Polytechnic College. On integration with Architecture program of Delhi Polytechnic, the School was renamed as School of Planning and Architecture, and was affiliated to the University of Delhi in 1959.

At present, SPA is a Deemed University.

It offers two courses at the undergraduate level:
Bachelor of Planning(4 years) and
Bachelor of Architecture(5 years).

In postgraduate level it offers 10 courses:
