Schola Gregoriana (Queen's University of Belfast)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schola Gregoriana was founded in November 2005 at the Catholic Chaplaincy, The Queen’s University of Belfast. The group is dedicated to the promotion and singing of Gregorian chant in its proper liturgical setting and is heard regularly singing at liturgies throughout the city of Belfast. The name, Schola Gregoriana, is Latin and can be translated as the Gregorian School. The group takes its name from Pope Saint Gregory the Great to whom the codification of the Gregorian musical repertory is attributed, in the ninth century. The motto of the Schola is 'immortalis et incorruptabilis' - immortal and incorruptible, referring to the transcendence of the music over time, season and changing attitudes.
