Schloss Porcia

Schloss Porcia (English: Castle Porcia) is a castle in Spittal an der Drau, Carinthia, Austria. It is one of the most important Renaissance buildings in Austria.

The edifice construction was begun in 1533 by Gabriel von Salamanca-Ortenburg, treasurer of Emperor Ferdinand I, who commissioned the design to Italian architects. Construction continued until 1597-1598. From 1639 it was a possession of the Widmann family, who ceded it to the Italian Porcia family in 1662. Baroque elements were added to the façade in the 18th century, while the garden is from the 19th century. It is currently a property of the municipality of Spittal.

Built in Italian Renaissance style, the castle houses in the interior and in the inner arcaded court are several Lombard-Italian sculptures.

The castle is now used for music festivals.
