Schlitterbahn (Kansas City)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In September of 2005 Schlitterbahn Waterparks announced the opening of a fourth waterpark in Kansas City, Kansas. This is Schlitterbahn's first waterpark that is outside of the state of Texas. The proposed opening is in 2008. The locaction of the park is across Interstate 435 from the Kansas Speedway. The land is currently occupied by the Wyandotte County Fairgrounds and the Unified Government annex. The 300 acre park dwarfs the 64 acre Oceans of Fun, Kansas City's first waterpark opened in 1983 across the state line. (When OOF opened it was the largest waterpark in the world.) The new Schlitterbahn would be roughly the size of Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun combined.

The famous TRANSPORTAINMENT TECHNOLOGY will also be an integral part of the Kansas City park. The plans also include a mile long covered river walk, and 300 room resort hotel plus additional cabins.
