Scene Event
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Scene Event (SE or SE2k for short, formerly Summer Encounter 1996-2000) is an annually held computer art festival (or demoparty for conveniency) in Denmark. The party was first held in 2000, and has attracted between 150 and 400 demosceners each year from countries all over Europe. Scene Event is considered one of the most international demoparties still held, along with Breakpoint and Assembly, with visitors arriving from Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Italy, Portugal or Hungary. The main features of the party besides the social part is the demo and intro competition.
The usual location for Scene Event is Harridslev near the city Randers. There were two occasions with a different location: in 1999 (when it was held in Aalborg) and in 2005 (when it was held in Egense)
The party was unfortunately cancelled in 2006, "due to lack of organizers".
[edit] Party and competitions
The party location is surrounded by an open grass field for tents with outdoor music, but also an indoor hall where attendants who bring their computers can work on their productions for the competitions. Inside the hall there is also a big screen and loudspeakers for displaying the actual contributions for the competitions.
The party traditionally hosts various non-computer related competitions as well, such as football and laptop throwing competitions. A trademark outdoor competition of SE is "fizzball"; a sport first seen in the Sam & Max comics.
