Talk:Scale analysis (statistics)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi guys, here are the terms I was mentioning in class as a starting point for a taxonomy of the methods covered.

  • probabilistic -- deterministic
  • nonparametric -- parametric
  • dominance (Guttman) -- proximity
  • ordinal (nonmetric) -- interval (metric)
  • bottom-up -- top-down
  • continous -- discrete
  • latent -- manifest
  • explorative -- confirmative
  • Guttman: nonmetric dominance model, perfect deterministic cumulative scale,

Besides these, I have a few terms which (as I understand it) can be defined for each model separately.

  • Purpose of model
  • Definition of model violation
  • Amibiguity in the negative response (= what does "no" mean?)
  • Parameter estimation
  • Test of mdel fit
