Scanography
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Scanography, or "scanner photography", is the process of producing artistic digital images by means of an ordinary flat-bed image scanner. Whereas a flatbed scanner is generally intended to be used for the reproduction of two-dimensional images, scanography typically involves imaging objects such as people or plants. Images produced by these means can have resolutions of up to one hundred megapixels. The results of this procedure can be similar to those achieved by macro photography
Typically, a graphics editor such as Adobe Photoshop or The Gimp is used in conjunction with the scanner. Moreover, the lid of the scanner is often removed, resulting in a velvety-black background.
