Scandoromani

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Scandoromani is a form of the Romani language. It's currently spoken by the Norwegian and Swedish Travellers - a community of Romany people (also known as Gypsies) in Norway and Sweden.

Like Angloromani in Britain and Hispanoromani in Spain, Scandoromani draws upon a (now extinct) vocabulary of inflected Romani. The original Romani grammar, however, has been lost to the users, and they now communicate in Norwegian/Swedish grammar. Scandoromani must not be confused with the Rodi language.

In Norway, Scandoromani is referred to as Norwegian Romani, while in Sweden the same language is known as Resande Rommani (Traveller Romani).
