Scampia

Scampia is a Camorra-controlled neighbourhood in the northern suburbs of Naples. It consists of huge, high-rise flat complexes. It is a very tough area with a high crime-rate and over 50 % unemployment. It is a very proud Italian and Catholic neighbourhood. There is currently a gang war taking place in Scampia resulting in over 50 gangland murders in the past year. Heroin and cocaine are sold and used openly in the streets and most shops supply needles, water vials and other parephenalia. Most of southern Italy is supplied by drugs from Scampia.
