Sayaguesa Cattle

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sayaguesa Cattle, also called Zamorana Cattle, is an original cattle breed from Sayago in the province of Zamora in the Spanish autonomous community of Castile and León.

The animals are very tall, adult cows reach a weight of 600 - 700 kg, bulls 1,000 - 1,100 kg. Traditionally the Sayaguesas are used as work and draft cattle. They are black with a light eel back. The horns are similar to these of the Aurochs. There are only a few Sayaguesas left - the breed counts as endangered.
