Save opportunity

The pitcher gets a save opportunity when he has the chance to close out the game, and gain a save. The stat itself is useful for determining the efficiency of a closer in save situations. In baseball, a save opportunity (SVOP) is when a relief pitcher enters a game, in which the pitcher meets the three requirements below.
- The pitcher is the last pitcher in a game won by his team;
- The pitcher is not in the position to be the winning pitcher
- The pitcher fulfills at least one of the following three conditions:
He is in the postion to come into the game with a lead of no more than three runs.
He is in the positon to come into the game with the potential tying run being either on base, at bat, or on deck.
He is in the position to pitch for at least three innings after entering the game with a lead.
